Rev. Dr. Arthur J. Combest Sr. is a native of Laurel, Mississippi. He began his Preaching Ministry on May 18, 1997, at the United Missionary Baptist Church in Dayton, OH. He is the eighth of nine children born to the late Harvey and Ozella Mae Combest.
Dr. Combest is uniquely gifted in preaching and teaching God’s Word through blending styles of worship from the contemporary to the traditional without sacrificing one for the other. It has resulted in a ministry that is built around a unique diversity of persons from various age groups and cultures whom all gather in celebrative worship. He is currently serving as current Pastor of Travelers’ Rest Missionary Baptist Church, Columbus, OH. Under his ministry leadership, he has also served in positions as Assistant Pastor, Christian Education Director, Youth Ministry Leader, Vacation Bible School Facilitator, Sunday School, and Bible School Teacher.
He holds an associate degree from Sinclair Community College, a bachelor’s degree from Wilberforce University, and a master’s degree in Organizational Business Management from Bluffton University. Dr. Combest attended Payne Theological Seminary for his religious studies and training. He received a Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) from Ashland University.
His ministry vision is to lead God’s people to Kingdom purpose by embracing the promise and provisions that all will come to know Jesus. Thus, equipping all with the Word of God for daily living out His truth in practical ways. He is married to the former Lailoni (Loni) Kie Bailey, and they are the proud parents of five sons: Arthur, Shawn, Charles, Baylee, and Tyler.
